The portfolio is supported by a group of leading experts and is underpinned by a comprehensive framework taking an impact first approach. It addresses the need to balance short and long-term objectives by supporting strategic initiatives under three critical pillars:

Nature Transformation Fund Pillars
The Nature Transformation Fund encompasses a wide array of projects, each tackling different themes and approaches. We focus on three main pillars, which support the fund's overall framework. Within each pillar, various projects pursue similar goals through different methods.
Innovative Finance
Innovative finance focuses on developing financial strategies to sustainably manage and preserve natural resources. It seeks to secure continuous funding and unlock extra resources for long-term environmental stewardship. Mechanisms like conservation finance and blended finance, harness economic incentives to support conservation efforts and generate financial benefits. Additionally, they encourage community participation and ownership.
Ecosystem Health
Initiatives in this pillar support the protection and restoration of freshwater, land, and ocean realms, crucial for meeting the '30x30' targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. This ambitious goal seeks to effectively protect and manage 30% of the world’s terrestrial, inland water, and coastal and marine areas by 2030. Achieving this is vital as currently, only about 17% of land and 8% of marine areas are under some form of protection. These efforts are essential to address the intertwined crises of biodiversity loss and climate change, ensuring the survival of natural systems that protect human well-being and support all life on Earth.

Initiatives in this pillar emphasise the role of local communities as part of the solution through championing science-backed policies, strategic litigation, and strong accountability mechanisms. Recognizing that the insights and experiences from affected communities are invaluable in crafting effective and just policies that not only protect the environment but also pave the way for a socially just transition.

The deployment of the project does not cause harm to people or local ecosystems.
High additionality: The tonnes removed wouldn’t happen without someone paying for it.
Potential. The method has the potential to become a large part of the solution to the climate crisis.
Future low-cost: We assess the potential cost in the long-term and don’t fixate on the price today.
A catalytic effect. Our donation or purchase of removal certificates leads to a larger growth of the method than just the tonnes that we purchase.
Effectiveness: Does the activity have a net cooling effect from a system perspective taking secondary effects into account?
Durability (permanence). The CO₂ should ideally be stored away for hundreds or thousands of years.
Delivery: Certainty of the project happening as agreed.
Innovation and knowledge contribution: Does the solution broaden the ecosystem of CDR solutions or significantly increase scientific knowledge of the method used?
Co-benefits. Projects are given a higher priority if they create benefits for people in poverty, or if they help ecosystems in other ways beyond storing more carbon.
When credits or certificates are bought they will be retired, which means they cannot be resold and will not be counted as a financial instrument.
Ecosystem Health
United Kingdom
Buglife addresses many of the threats to bees and insects including habitat loss and toxins. Their B-lines program establishes wildflower-rich "insect superhighways" to restore pollinator populations in the UK. Partnering with various stakeholders, they offer advice and support for insect-friendly land management, involving farmers, local authorities, government agencies, NGOs, businesses, and individuals in their conservation efforts.

Argentina + 4 countries
Acción Andina is a regional initiative to protect and restore one million hectares of high-Andean native forests in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The initiative is powered by Global Forest Generation and ECOAN.

Erasure - Do you want us to completely forget about you? You have the right to be forgotten and request deletion of your Personal Data when the Processing is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. If we are required to retain your information under applicable law or a contract that we have entered with you, we will ensure that it is processed only for the specific purpose set forth in such applicable law or contract.
